Pluto & Uranus Instruments of Collective Change - Phase One 2008-2019

By Tashi Powers, First published in 2014. Updated 2023

Pluto in Capricorn lasts from 2008 – 2023/2024

Uranus in Aries lasts from 2010 – 2019

Pluto will square Uranus from 2013 to 2018. Pluto is in Capricorn which represents a change in Governments, and the Arab Spring sprung upright as Pluto and Uranus had their first encounter.

What began as a conjunction in 1966, now plays out as many squares lasting into 2018 as planets join in to bring this collective force of Pluto and Uranus to individuals whose planetary placements resonate with the seed evolution/revolution of the conjunction in the mid-sixties.

The internet is the new medium as news ripples through websites, social media sites, “mobi’s” of all sorts, as well as many emerging technologies.

Nations and individuals will face Pluto in Capricorn – and the lessons of Domination/Submission, found in the Cancer/Capricorn polarity as they find ways to individuate through Uranus in Aries.  The hope for our progress is a desire to pioneer and way-find new venues.

Aries as an archetype is pioneering and invites adventure.  Capricorn as an archetype is responsible and when at its best, demonstrates exemplary leadership, and has warmth and dignity.

According to Jeffrey Wolf Green,(JWG) whose material on Pluto was channelled from Yogananda in dreams and waking states, Pluto is a force of Nature that helps us best align with the Source, The Force, The Creatrix, God/Goddess, All That Is.

Most of us are not aware of our evolutionary intentions. Still, in our birth chart, and under Pluto’s transits, we experience intense awakenings to remind us which way to proceed in life.

Oct 9, 1965 Uranus is conjunct Pluto 17º Virgo 09’
April 4, 1966 Uranus is conjunct Pluto 19
º Virgo 27’
June  30, 1966 Uranus is conjunct Pluto 16
º Virgo 06’

If we have fallen into an unconscious pattern, Pluto’s transits can help us to break up stuck energies, psychological, lifestyle, health, values etc.

Our Integrity is definitely visible to us with Pluto’s frequency.  This affects collective groups, governments, corporations and the structure of our justice system, as seen currently by the situation in Ferguson, Missouri.

Our new always reflects the collective zeitgeist of our unconscious behaviour.

As this Uranus Pluto square began as a conjunction in the mid-’60s, in this country were huge protests about invading Vietnam and sending our troops there, for what many saw as a US Oil grabbing subtext in the Sea of Tonkin.

Synchronicity has China and Vietnam back in the Sea of Tonkin, with the USA being involved as a go-between.  These big planetary cycles bring all the players back to the table to find a new way to perhaps deal with offshore oil this time.

This is a microcosm at play, but each move you make in your own life involves a quantum wave of energy that affects outcomes for all. If you meditate open your heart and third eye and send love and light to that area, to the past, present and future, all interdependently interfacing with each of us, as the mystery of life unfolds.

As we watch the opening square – we need to all recognize it is a time to act on the intentions of the conjunction of the evolutionary/revolutionary aspect of the mid-1960s.

So, we must all realize we can expect unconscious life issues to be high-beamed as Pluto in Capricorn– in the opening square to Uranus in Aries  – helps us face our evolutionary tasks.

The backlash of losing John Lennon in the early 80s was truly a low point. But the breakthrough, kick-ass energy of the Uranus Pluto square for the next several years can be harnessed. We can take the cause back.  Even Bob Dylan is on tour.  Let’s stand shoulder to shoulder, with our elders, the Middle-aged, up-and-coming visionaries, and help the younger generation, who are now aligned with saving the Planet, organic food, yoga and meditation…

“Times are a changing”… once again. This time there are two generations, maybe three… aligned to the changes… at least here in the West. We need to find our footing and make real progress for the good. We need more Evolution and more change/re-volution/elevation.

My take on how to navigate Pluto in Capricorn ( see sidebar)  is that we had a really good look at society in the 60s, and changed our values. Uranus/Pluto’s conjunction in 1966 is a pivotal moment of the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, which has a seminal moment in 2023 when Pluto enters Aquarius.

Unleashing new ideas, and having a great influence in the field of inventions, innovations, and humanity needs to work together.

Hippies will have a resurgence in society.

People – will want to live a life that has a heartbeat: a real pulse from an inner life, not just the consensus-driven, material-driven lemming life.

The Shadow of Pluto

The painting seen below is “Illustration of the structure of Hell” according to Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. By Sandro Botticelli (1480 – 1495). According to Carl Gustav Jung, hell represents, among every culture, the disturbing aspect of the collective unconscious.

Pluto was discovered in 1930 and we associate it with the Atomic Bomb. Through observation and correlation, it relates to power, corruption, greed, and sexual obsessive-compulsive disorders. That is the darkness that exists in the world.

Shadows can teach us about our humanity, about our own lesson, about evolution.

Pluto teaches us how to make better choices, the ones that will facilitate evolution.

We are all faced with choices, and we know the importance of attracting the highest good to our life.

DEC 8, 2014 Pluto squares Uranus at 12 Capricorn to 12 Aries. The T-square between the Moon Uranus & Pluto is in effect for a few days before and after the exact conjunction on Dec 8th. 2014.

Dec 8th is a real humdinger. The Nodes of the Moon are also in the same degree as the Nodes of Venus, where we find the Mercury Sun conjunction: at 16 SAG.

Whatever has been building, today is about that breakthrough, financial issues, possible earth changes, volcanoes, earthquakes and treacherous, winter storms. It is a day to be aware of and take a few chances today.

NB: Research below on what happened on Dec 8, 2014

The U.S. officially ends the Afghanistan combat mission on Dec 8, 2014.
Violent protests continue in California over the fatal police shooting of unarmed black men in NY and Missouri.

Pluto in Capricorn will often represent an outside force – the authorities – who have seemingly stolen the upper hand –  This projection of Pluto onto an outside authority – creates a collective paralysis – by hooking those who allow it into a left brain-dominated loop – “the News Media is all propaganda”…

We must make changes as individuals in order to see changes in the world.  If we can learn to see our interdependence we can know that” our intention is creation and doubt is the eraser.”

We must wake up to our potential with Uranus in Aries, and become leaders with Pluto in Capricorn.  Each of us will have different arenas in which this unfolds; parenthood, church, yoga teaching, school teacher, etc.  Pluto’s frequency can help us see how to create a better world – by changing how we define it.  See it as a more positive place.  Create a better self-image.  Project a better image onto others and they will show up in your world as more in touch with your frequency.

Pluto’s frequency confronts us with a progressive loss of meaning as we face our limiting beliefs. Pluto’s frequency may eventually remove us from that which prevents or blocks our true evolution.

Although painful at the time, like surgery, we emerge from this experience as a stronger, more spiritually evolved person – if we chose to embrace the possibilities inherent in the challenges.

Pluto is our soul’s urge to know God, Goddess, and Creation in as much as we are co-creators, and as Walter Truett puts it… to be the lighthouse and learn “the truth about the truth”…..

Jupiter in LEO – 2014 and 2015 makes a Grand Trine with Uranus.  The Grand Trine is the most harmonious  aspect ( 120 X 3 = 360) of the Zodiac,

Using Jupiter in Leo’s super positive energy we have the ability to manifest a better dream, a more harmonious possibility. But we must face the collective fears of our collective humanity now.

“Everyone carries a shadow,” Jung wrote, “and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.”

Pluto’s ability to deliver revelation aligns with Aries’s drive and Jupiter’s vision.  Use the trines and breakthrough frequency of Uranus and you have a whole orchestra moving you toward the resolution of past patterns, and opening up new possibilities of expression.  This is a powerful opportunity to make a difference, so I urge you to step up to the plate, wherever you see it manifesting in your own life.

It’s time to see that it’s up to you. Embrace your Souls obligation to evolve. Animate your vision as the chord of Uranus/Pluto helps you figure out a new balance in your life.

Get more in touch with the projection on the other side of the see-saw. Take back your power. Change how you engage and how you are perceiving the meta-narrative  …  stop buying into the illusion.

One of the greatest teachings of the Kabbalah is the lesson of becoming bigger than the darkness.  Embrace the collective zeitgeist and work on sending it lightly. This is how we expand our own light. We must share and care and include to build and flex our spiritual muscles./ We must be the change we wish to see in the world.

Depending on how we deal with this domination/submission –Capricorn lesson,  we can emerge as superheroes, with a much larger capacity to hold light, and greater spiritual strength.

We need to remember these important words from Carl Jung: “What you resist, persists.”

There are many more examples of Pluto in Capricorn’s trail of tears. What are the bright spots?

An awareness of how corrupt government really is.

A desire to make a change. Young people are voting in huge numbers.

Climate Change lost an opportunity when Gore’s election results got entangled in a powerful Mercury Retrograde and his Climate Change policy was delayed a decade or so.

Now that we have reached the shores where we don’t want to trade resources with China, Russia, and KSA we have realized we don’t need to.

We are moving to alternative sources of energy. Wind and solar are widespread, electrically powered cars are about to be the law of the land, and many new interesting breakthrough ideas are coming.

Pluto enters Aquarius, in lockstep with Saturn and Neptune. Saturn and Neptune spend the first 5 yrs of Pluto’s transit in Aquarius hanging out together from 2023-2028, first in Pisces, then Aries.

Neptune helps us envision and design, while Saturn teaches us how to build the future.

As I repost this article( from 2014) today 20 Feb 2023 Pluto is leaving Capricorn. To recap we have a war between autocracy and democracy playing out in the world. We are still enduring the 12th century and entering the 21st century as very old religions try to enforce their ideologies on a world that is long past needing the radical ideologies of hate and separation, of domination/submission. Nonetheless, it is our job to overcome this situation for the greater good.

Brexit has left the once most powerful empire in the world in a collective stooper as they find their middle classes wakening up to being guided by fools.

The Royal Family is in its worst condition as the sons of Princess Diana feud openly, exposing all the cracks in the kingdom.

India, once a country we regarded as a sacred vessel of living spirituality has sold its, soul, for oil from Russia, thus supporting communism and the slaughter of the Ukrainian citizens.

The American Democratic way of life was shaken by the neck, as citizens under false assumptions, stormed the capital. Most are in jail, and the President and Press who spurred them on have come under intense scrutiny, allowing the populace to see the corruption in the democratic system.

Will Pluto in Aquarius help us fix it? Or will something new replace it?  The next twenty years will tell us.11 JUN

The essential purpose of astrology is not so much to tell us what we will meet on our road, as it is to suggest how to meet it – and the basic reason for the meeting. Which quality in us, which type of strength, is needed to go through any specific phase of our total unfoldment as an individual person.”

A quote by the revered French Astrologer – Dane Rudhyar.
